First Impressions...

Most bands travel to their gigs in beat up old Ford Transits and such like, but what about us?
No we bleedin don't. After the retirement of the infamous Black Chevvy of Death, and now the Ghostly Galaxie, our band transportation is a 1951 Mercury in a ghoulish shade of purple.
As we sail by in the big V8 with its earth tremblin engine rumble and Rocket Ship tail fins blazin a trail through the night, you're damn sure we aint goin to no picknick!

Who's in the band?

Kill Van Helsing are:

Gav Lusby - Guitars and Vocals

Gray O'Connor - Guitars and Backing Vocals

Dan Gaisford - Drums

Dr. Van Helsing

Where did the name come from?

The vampire hunter character of Abraham Van Helsing first appeared in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
He has since appeared in around 36 films, always on the side of good, battling the forces of evil.
Vampires everywhere would be glad to see him dead.

Just in case you have been locked in a coffin for the last six months, there is a major motion picture from Universal called Van Helsing starring Hugh Jackman as the vampire hunter. Check it out - here

The History Lesson...

Kill Van Helsing was formed at the end of 1996 when Gav, Gray and Badger decided to form a garage band. The main influences were The Cramps, The Clash, Johnny Kid and the Pirates and the Stingrays.

Things went well enough over the next couple of years as the band played hundreds of gigs, had three tracks released on compilation albums and a successful trip to Sweden.

Unfortunately, Badgers time was increasingly taken up by his other two bands and he left and was replaced with Andy Gray for Glastonbury 98.

The History Lesson...

Andy stayed with us for three years, before hanging up his drum sticks at the end of 2000. The rest of us had a year off in 2001 and started again at the beginnig of 2002 with a new line-up including our Bass player Rollin' Loco and a renewed enthusiasm!

At the end of 2002 the curse of the Drummy fell on us again and Dan left to seek his fortune on the mean streets of London. While we wish him luck, we have had none in 2003 looking for a new drummer - but the search continues.

Keep an eye on our News page to find out if we get a new skin beater and drop us an email if you want to try out for the job yourself...
